The SunSmart 5K is a Miller School of Medicine annual student-run event that brings together runners, spectators and the local dermatology community to raise awareness about sun safety and skin cancer. After the race dermatologists from the University of Miami and local dermatology community will provide free skin cancer screening and give informative presentations about sun safety and skin cancer.

Dr. Grichnik is internationally recognized for his expertise and research in early melanoma detection and pathways that play a role in melanoma progression. He directs a world-class melanoma detection and surveillance clinic utilizing the latest imaging technologies and serves as director of an interdisciplinary program at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center Miller School of Medicine that provides comprehensive melanoma care. Dr. Grichnik has written more than 70 scientific publications and chapters.
